About
I'm a graduate student at the New University of Lisbon (FCSH-UNL) and I'm currently waiting to present my thesis "Women between Sound and Silence: Images and Representations of of metal music artists in LOUD!", to obtain my graduate degree. I studied Communication Sciences also at the New University of Lisbon, obtaining my undergraduate degree in 2009.
I am currently working with a scholarship in two research projects, at the Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies (CICANT), in Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias (School of Communication, Arts and Information Technologies). Both projects are related with media research and methodologically grounded on content analysis.
My main research interest areas currently combine both Communication Sciences and Women's Studies, looking mostly at the gendered character of current media. But I'm currently focusing my interests on feminist theories, queer theory, LGBT studies and gender studies. I'm planing to do my PhD on Communication Sciences next year, with the intent to study forms of feminist pornography and queer pornography.
On a more personal level, I'm mainly interested in representations of lesbian and queer pornography, feminist oriented pornography and pornography made by women for women. I'm most interested in the theoretical works of Beatriz Preciado and in the artistical work and performances of queer artists.
Apart from my established research areas, I have recently developed a particular interest in the relationships between queer subjectivities and activism, myself being an activist on a queer portuguese group.
If any of my research areas are of interest to you, or if you simply identify as a queer thinker/artist/academic/person, please feel free to contact me.
